  1. This multi-system software is designed to allow the tracking of several
  2. important database functions for the bluewater vessel.  Each system
  3. performs in an identical fashion so learning the Full system becomes quite
  4. an easy task.

  6. All of the systems are designed to store (display and sort) data similar
  7. to most all database software.  The important difference with Shelter
  8. Island Press software is that it has been designed specifically for quick
  9. learning and ease of day-to-day operation.  Let's look at each one
  10. seperately...
  11.  
  12. FOOD INDEX
  13.  
  14.     The Food Index is simply an alphabetized list of ALL the food items
  15. on the boat.  This index is used to keep a running inventory of foods
  16. aboard the boat along with the storage location for the foods.  Utilizing
  17. this index you should be able to quickly generate shopping lists for
  18. replenishing stocks and should be able to quickly FIND an item that would
  19. otherwise be 'lost'.

  21. MEAL INDEX
  22.  
  23.     The Meal Index is an alphabetized list of all the possible meals for
  24. which you choose to plan.  This index is used to organize for extended
  25. cruises.  By assembling a number of complete meals and then purchasing
  26. provisions for SEVERAL OF EACH TYPE you can adequately cost-out and
  27. thoroughly plan for extended periods.

  29. CHARTS INDEX

  31.    The Charts Index is a numerically sorted list of the charts you have
  32. (or intend to purchase) aboard the boat.  Full identification of the chart
  33. is provided.  A table of corrections (Local Notice to Mariners) is also
  34. provided for EACH chart.

  36. PASSAGE PLANNING
  37.  
  38.     The Passage Planning index is probably the most 'fun' index to use. It
  39. allows you to thoroughly plan a short trip or a world cruise.  This index
  40. is code-linked to the codes in World Cruising Routes (Cornell 1987)
  41. therefore allowing quick access to the information pertinent to a specific
  42. passage.  This index is also quite useful in creating detailed 'float
  43. plans'.

  45. SUPPLIES INDEX

  47.     The Supplies Index is simply an alphabetized list of ALL the supplies
  48. kept on the boat.  This index is used to keep a running inventory of
  49. supplies aboard the boat along with the storage location for each item.
  50. Utilizing this index you should be able to quickly generate shopping lists
  51. for replenishing stocks and should be able to quickly FIND an item that
  52. would otherwise be 'lost'.

  54. SPARE PART INDEX

  56.     Similarly the Spare part Index is simply an alphabetized list of ALL
  57. the spare parts kept on the boat.  This index is used to keep a running
  58. inventory of spare parts aboard the boat along with the storage location
  59. for each item.  Utilizing this index you should be able to quickly
  60. generate shopping lists for replenishing stocks and should be able to
  61. quickly FIND an item that would otherwise be 'lost'.

  63. REPAIRS & PROJECTS
  64.  
  65.     This index allows you to thoroughly plan and prioritize all your
  66. repairs and projects.  This module also allows you to list and "check-off" all the necessary parts and supplies to accomplish the project.

  68. MAINTENANCE TICKLER
  69.  
  70.     This module acts as a reminder for all maintenance aboard.  The index
  71. quickly displays all maintenance items you have listed and allows you to
  72. search for particular dates too (e.g. all maintenance due by the end of a
  73. particular month!).

  75. EQUIPMENT LOG
  76.  
  77.     The Equipment log is simply a list of all the equipment you have on
  78. the boat.  Provision is made for you to enter all the necessary
  79. information on each piece of equipment (along with a repair history).

  81. SUMMARY

  83.    Each of these modules allow you to monitor a vital area of your vessel.
